The purpose of this article is to show Mason’s A4100 smartwatch sample application capabilities. These apps were created to highlight the various sensor functionality of the A4100 with realistic use cases. In order to use these sample apps, a Mason A4100 dev kit will be required. You can request your dev kit here if you do not have one already.
The two sample apps available on the A4100 include:
- Mason Health App - used to demonstrate various monitoring and sensor technology in the A4100 including:
- Heart Rate
- Blood Oxygen
- Breathing Rate
- Step Counter
- Mason HelpMe! App - used to demonstrate the A4100 fall detection capabilities
Mason Health Application:
Upon opening the Mason Health app, you’ll be met with a list of use cases that demonstrate the hardware and sensor capabilities of the A4100. These include:
- Heart Rate
- Blood Oxygen
- Breathing Rate
- Step Counter
Heart Rate: when this is selected, there will be a first-time measurement that will return the result and the time this was taken.
The user will have two options to proceed:
- Repeat the measurement
- “Monitor” - which will measure heart rate again and refresh with a notification every 15 minutes
Blood Oxygen: the user will be met with an intro screen, reminding them to hold the watch securely to their wrist and to hold still (as it can be difficult to measure blood oxygen if the user is moving). Upon success, the user will have the option to repeat the measurement.
Breathing Rate: this app behaves similarly to the Blood Oxygen app. The user will begin their measurement, with the ability to repeat once the measurement is complete.
Step Counter: this app will display the users step count as well as their step target. The user can update their step target by clicking on the “x Step Target” text on the bottom of the screen.
Mason HelpMe! Application for Fall Detection:
When you first launch the app, you’ll see a brief description of the app, and a button to “Start Monitoring.”
(Note: this app is for demonstration purposes. No alerts will be sent to any other devices or 3rd parties).
When this is pressed, the A4100 will begin monitoring for any falls. If no fall is detected, you will see a screen that looks like this:
If a fall is detected, however, the user will see the following screen:
The user will have 2 options to select:
- I’m OK! - this will trigger a brief confirmation audio queue and message.
- I Need Help! - this will trigger a “siren” audio queue and a notification that lets the user know help is on the way
If the user does not select “I’m OK!” within 10 seconds, the “I Need Help!” function will also be activated.
